Scheduling FFT-Based Spectral Analysis in the Audio Processing Loop

Christian Kauten · Arhythmetic Units

CoopFFT spreads spectral analysis across successive audio-sample calls, without a separate analysis thread. The paper explores the tradeoff between smaller processing bursts, total work, and the delay before a spectrum is ready.

Draft manuscript, version 5 · Available with Fourier v2.2.1.

RackNES: A Voltage-Controlled NES Emulator as a Musical Instrument

Christian Kauten · Arhythmetic Units

A look inside a console emulator embedded in an audio-processing loop. The report follows three ways into the machine—gameplay, execution, and memory—and examines timing, audio routing, and the difference between recalling a state and replaying a sound.

Manuscript version 1 · Repository manuscript, dated September 30, 2026. A retrospective design and implementation account.
